Are you worried that your map reading skills might let you down just when you need them most?
This short course should help to improve your OS map reading, and compass work. It will also cover basic leadership, so that in time you could join our enthusiastic group of walk leaders. Even if you don’t help out by offering to lead, this course should make you confident to read a local map, and find your way in normal weather conditions. We will cover basic techniques to read OS maps and grid references, then learn how to use a compass to help you navigate round your walks. Plus practical tips that will help you to work out where you are and not get lost.
We do not propose to teach you how to walk across Dartmoor in a fog!
The 2-part course will be held at Winter Hill Golf Club, Grange Lane, Cookham, SL6 9RP, Grid ref:SU870860 in the evenings of Monday 18th and Tuesday 26th June from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. An all day practical session will be arranged later to suit participants..The cost of the course is £5:00.
